You Have to Start Somewhere: A Beginner’s Guide to Implementation

Building your first Data Vault can be a bit intimidating, especially if you’re not a seasoned data professional. Collision codes, ghost keys, and PIT tables – oh my! Join Tyler as he examines his experience building a Data Vault for the first time, and the second time, and the third time… What does a successful metadata vault look like? What metrics are worth tracking? How do you streamline your ETL pipelines? Why is AWS so complicated? Sometimes there are more questions than answers but this presentation is all about the journey.

Tyler will review his team’s decision to build a Data Vault using Redshift and the AWS ecosystem, as well as lessons learned from going through multiple vault iterations. What does it look like to build a vault using nothing but the baseline standard as your guide? You’ll come away from this session with some new strategies for managing metadata, building ETL processes, and streamlining your Data Vault load!
