CDVP2.1 has been in the works for almost three years. We are now getting ready to release it.
The new class has been updated to reflect current technology, the acronyms, the industry, and everything else, so several things have changed in the 2.0 course in those regards. We are now expanding the scope of the class conceptually in what we will be teaching to the practitioners. This includes ideas around Data Lakes, Data Lakehouses, Data Ponds, the transition of Staging areas to Data Lakes, the Medallion architecture (new label, same thing we’ve always had in DV). If your business is talking about “Medallion this” and “Medallion that” – speaking from a Data Vault solution, you can tell them you already have it!
We’re also going to be talking more about the Methodology, the teaming aspects of the Methodology and the architecture as well. We’ll be discussing more about Agile, and specifically Disciplined Agile Delivery, with tighter integration with Scott Ambler and Mark Lines. Of course, we’re going to be talking more about Data Mesh, Data Fabric, and Data Hubs.
On the technical side, CDVP2.1 will cover recommended practices around how you work with objects such as Same-As Links and Non-Historized Links, what you do with Persistent Staging Areas, how you deal with JSON and JSON satellites, how or when to flatten JSON structures for performance, we’re bringing back some performance and tuning hints for JSON and introducing some new concepts at the technical level.
I’m happy to report that there are no new Data Vault entities! We will dive deeper into the technical concepts of Real Time, Streaming, Ontologies, Taxonomies, Temporality, and Business Key Collision Codes.
We’ve also been working on the interactive nature of the learning platform and providing additional materials for you. To this end, Dan is offering a 2.1 Preview class from January 15-19. There are limited seats available. Only CDVP2.0 Certified Practitioners are qualified to enroll in this class. You must show proof of your CDVP2.0 certification when you request enrollment.

The Preview class will not cover all materials or sessions as those are under development. If you are selected for enrollment, you will be expected to provide direct feedback to Dan on everything from the content, the way the quizzing works, to the Study Guide – yes, we have a full-on Study Guide now, and so much more. We have quizzes tied into the video and on-line, self-paced materials; we’re building out our on-line Glossary and expanding it (currently up to roughly 500 terms and growing …). As a note to all our readers, the Glossary will be free to everyone and available publicly on our learn.datavaultalliance.com website.
The way the Preview Package works is that firstly, Preview enrollees will get a sneak peak into the materials, you get access to Dan during the class (only Dan is teaching this Preview class, no one else); secondly, you get an opportunity to shape the way the content is delivered and provide feedback on what you like or where you’d want to have more clarity in the explanation of a topic (which turns this class into a series of working sessions with Dan); and thirdly, you learn a lot about the new stuff that’s coming.
In short, you get early access to the materials, the learning platform, and input into ideas for clarity or expendability of the materials. It is your opportunity to influence the topics covered in the CDVP2.1 course. The new platform provides an in-depth Study Guide, on-line Topic and Lesson quizzes, and a practice exam. You can take notes directly on the platform as you review videos and reference related material.
Purchasing the Preview class package entitles you to free access to a full instructor-led course, including the 2.1 Certification Exam, when the course is released in its entirety. The cost of the Preview package is only $1497.00.
The beauty of the Preview package is that you pay one time for next year. When the class is ready, brushed, polished and available to all of our Authorized Training Partners, you can take the course from either Sanjay or Cindi at no additional fee; including access to the finished certification exam at no additional fee. So, you can get recertified in CDVP 2.1.
DVA will not be offering this deal again. After the January 15th class, this will not be made available again for CDVP 2.1.
