CDVP2.1 Recertification and Legacy CDVP2.0 Holder Enrollment Policy

CDVP2.1 credentials are valid for three years from the date of issue. Recertification is required when a credential holder wishes to maintain current CDVP2.1 certification status beyond the expiration date shown in the DVA-issued credential record.

Recertification does not erase, replace, or question the original achievement. It provides a structured way for a credential holder to demonstrate that the applicable current recertification requirements have been completed.

This page explains who may seek CDVP2.1 recertification, how legacy CDVP2.0 holders may enroll in the separate CDVP2.1 course and certification, how pricing is handled, what each path does and does not mean, and which organization controls each part of the process.

Purpose and Effect of This Policy

This page documents the general CDVP2.1 recertification policy established by Data Vault Alliance Holdings LLC, referred to on this page as DVA.

This page does not itself:

  • Enroll a candidate in a recertification course;
  • Reserve a seat in a class;
  • Quote or guarantee a price;
  • Promise a discount;
  • Extend an existing credential;
  • Create a grace period;
  • Guarantee successful recertification; or
  • Replace the enrollment, payment, cancellation, or refund terms provided by an Authorized Training Organization.

The DVA-issued credential record hosted through Accredible and the applicable DVA credential policies determine the credential title, issue date, expiration date, and recorded status.

The Basic Recertification Rule

A CDVP2.1 holder may choose not to recertify. The historical fact that the individual earned CDVP2.1 remains part of the individual’s professional history.

Recertification is required, however, if the holder wishes to maintain current CDVP2.1 certification status after the expiration date shown in the credential record.

Until DVA issues or updates a credential record following successful recertification, the existing DVA-issued credential record remains the authoritative record of the credential’s status.

Who May Enroll?

Existing CDVP2.1 Credential Holders

An individual who previously earned CDVP2.1 may enroll in the applicable CDVP2.1 recertification offering to maintain or restore current CDVP2.1 certification status.

The candidate should be able to provide a verifiable DVA-issued CDVP2.1 credential record or the information needed to locate that record.

If the CDVP2.1 credential has already expired, the holder should contact an Authorized Training Organization before enrolling. The ATO will identify the available authorized offering and provide the applicable enrollment information.

Legacy CDVP2.0 Credential Holders

Individuals who hold the legacy CDVP2.0 credential are welcome and encouraged to enroll in the separate CDVP2.1 course and certification.

CDVP2.0 and CDVP2.1 are separate courses, separate assessments, and separate certifications. Enrolling in CDVP2.1 does not renew, replace, cancel, convert, or add an expiration date to the legacy CDVP2.0 credential.

After successfully completing the applicable CDVP2.1 course and certification requirements, the individual earns a new CDVP2.1 credential. The individual may then hold both:

  • The original non-expiring legacy CDVP2.0 credential; and
  • The separate CDVP2.1 credential, which has its own issue date, expiration date, and three-year validity period.

For enrollment or pricing purposes, an ATO may describe a CDVP2.0 holder as a recertification, returning, legacy, or alumni student. That administrative or pricing description does not mean that CDVP2.0 is being renewed or converted into CDVP2.1.

A CDVP2.0 holder must complete the separate CDVP2.1 course and certification requirements to earn CDVP2.1.

When Should a Credential Holder Begin?

Credential holders are responsible for reviewing the expiration date shown in their DVA-issued credential record and allowing sufficient time to complete the applicable recertification requirements.

DVA, Accredible, or an Authorized Training Organization may send reminders or notices. Delivery of a reminder is not guaranteed. Failure to receive a reminder does not change the expiration date, extend the credential, or create a grace period.

Enrollment, payment, registration, attendance, or a scheduled future class does not by itself extend current certification status. The credential status remains as shown in the DVA-issued credential record until the applicable recertification requirements have been completed and DVA has issued or updated the credential record.

Where Do I Enroll?

CDVP2.1 recertification offerings and CDVP2.1 enrollment for legacy CDVP2.0 holders are delivered through DVA Authorized Training Organizations, referred to as ATOs.

To enroll, contact an ATO that offers the applicable CDVP2.1 recertification course or the separate CDVP2.1 course for legacy CDVP2.0 holders. The ATO will provide information about:

  • Course availability;
  • Class dates and time zones;
  • Delivery format;
  • Language options;
  • Eligibility information;
  • Registration deadlines;
  • Course price;
  • Available discounts;
  • Taxes, currency, and payment methods;
  • Cancellation, transfer, and refund terms; and
  • Any other commercial or administrative terms for that offering.

Roles and Responsibilities

Data Vault Alliance

DVA owns or controls the applicable CDVP2.1 course and certification materials, licenses authorized materials to ATOs, establishes the certification and recertification standards, and issues the CDVP2.1 credential.

DVA determines whether the applicable certification requirements have been satisfied and controls the title, issue date, expiration date, and recorded status of the DVA-issued credential.

Authorized Training Organizations

ATOs deliver authorized training and manage their own course schedules, enrollment processes, prices, discounts, invoicing, taxes, payment methods, cancellation terms, transfer terms, and refund terms.

Each ATO independently determines the price it charges for a recertification offering. An ATO may use country-adjusted or regional pricing, local currency, local taxes, delivery costs, market conditions, promotions, discounts, or other commercial factors.

An ATO may not change the DVA certification standard or issue a DVA credential independently. Completion of an ATO course does not by itself guarantee that DVA will issue or update a credential unless all applicable DVA recertification requirements are satisfied.

Accredible

Accredible is the digital credential platform used by DVA to create, host, display, verify, and provide access to the DVA-issued credential record.

Accredible does not independently establish the CDVP2.1 certification or recertification policy. DVA establishes the policy and issues the credential.

Recertification and Returning-Student Pricing

DVA does not require all ATOs to charge the same price for CDVP2.1 recertification or for CDVP2.0 holders enrolling in the separate CDVP2.1 course and certification.

DVA may publish or communicate a nonbinding Suggested Retail Price, sometimes referred to as SRP or MSRP, for an authorized course. DVA may also recommend that ATOs consider a recertification, returning-student, legacy-holder, or alumni discount. Ask your ATO about their discounted pricing if you hold a CDVP2.0 certification.

A suggested price or suggested discount is a recommendation only. It is not a required price, a guaranteed discount, or an offer by DVA or an ATO.

A suggested recertification or returning-student discount may apply to an existing CDVP2.1 holder or to a legacy CDVP2.0 holder enrolling in the separate CDVP2.1 course. Eligibility for any discount, and the final price charged, are determined by the ATO.

Each ATO independently decides:

  • The price charged to a CDVP2.1 recertification student or to a CDVP2.0 holder enrolling in CDVP2.1;
  • Whether a discount is offered;
  • The amount and duration of any discount;
  • Whether country-adjusted or regional pricing is used;
  • The currency in which payment is accepted;
  • Whether taxes or fees are included;
  • Whether group, employer, alumni, promotional, or other discounts are available; and
  • The applicable payment, cancellation, transfer, and refund terms.

Prices may differ among ATOs, countries, regions, currencies, delivery formats, and class dates. DVA does not guarantee that one ATO will match the price or discount offered by another ATO.

Before enrolling, request the current written price and commercial terms directly from the ATO. The ATO’s current registration page, written quotation, invoice, or enrollment confirmation should identify the amount due and the applicable commercial terms.

Do not rely on an old advertisement, prior course price, social-media post, third-party description, or DVA suggested price as a promise of the price that an ATO will charge.

What Recertification May Require

Recertification is not automatic. A candidate must complete the DVA-authorized recertification requirements applicable to the offering in which the candidate enrolls.

Depending on the current recertification offering, the requirements may include:

  • Review of updated or revised course materials;
  • Completion of required lessons or learning activities;
  • Completion of required quizzes or knowledge checks;
  • Attendance or participation requirements;
  • Completion of a recertification assessment;
  • Compliance with identity and assessment rules;
  • Completion within an assigned access or eligibility period; and
  • Other requirements communicated for the applicable recertification offering.

The ATO will provide the course schedule and administrative instructions. DVA determines the certification standard and the requirements that must be satisfied for the credential to be issued or updated.

The exact learning and assessment requirements may change as course materials, terminology, professional practices, and the environments in which Data Vault is applied continue to develop.

What Does Not Recertify a Credential?

The following do not automatically recertify or extend a CDVP2.1 credential:

  • Previously earning CDVP2.1;
  • Professional experience alone;
  • Employment in a Data Vault role;
  • Participation in a Data Vault project;
  • Membership in a professional or DVA community;
  • Watching public videos or attending unrelated webinars;
  • Purchasing or registering for a recertification course;
  • Paying an ATO fee;
  • Attending a course without completing all required components;
  • Receiving an ATO attendance record or course-completion record; or
  • An informal statement by an instructor, employer, colleague, or other third party.

Recertification occurs only after the applicable DVA recertification requirements have been satisfied and DVA has issued or updated the credential record.

Course Completion Is Not the Same as Recertification

An ATO may provide an attendance record, receipt, enrollment confirmation, or course-completion record. These records may document participation or completion of a learning activity.

They do not independently establish current CDVP2.1 certification status.

Current certification status is established by the DVA-issued credential record hosted through Accredible.

What Happens After Successful Recertification?

After DVA confirms that the applicable recertification requirements have been satisfied, DVA will issue or update the CDVP2.1 credential record through Accredible.

Successful recertification establishes a new three-year period of current CDVP2.1 credential status beginning on the applicable issue or renewal date shown in the DVA-issued credential record.

The credential record will show the applicable title, issue or renewal information, expiration date, and recorded status. Those dates and that status control how the credential may be represented.

The original credential and its prior dates remain part of the holder’s professional history. Recertification does not convert CDVP2.1 into a non-expiring credential.

What Happens if the Requirements Are Not Completed?

If a candidate does not complete all applicable recertification requirements, DVA will not issue or update the credential as current based only on enrollment, payment, attendance, effort, professional experience, or partial completion.

Questions about additional course access, transfers, additional attempts, new enrollment, fees, or refunds must be directed to the ATO and are subject to the terms of the applicable offering.

The existing credential status remains as shown in the DVA-issued credential record.

Credential Status While Recertification Is in Progress

Beginning a recertification course does not change the existing credential status.

  • If the credential is current, it remains current only through the expiration date shown in the credential record.
  • If the credential expires before recertification is completed and recorded, the credential is expired during that period.
  • If the credential is already expired, enrollment does not return it to current status.
  • Current status begins again only when DVA issues or updates the credential record following successful completion of the applicable requirements.

A candidate must not represent recertification as complete until the DVA-issued credential record shows the resulting current status.

How May the Credential Be Represented?

Credential holders must represent the title, dates, and status of the CDVP2.1 credential accurately.

While the Credential Is Current

The holder may use the CDVP2.1 certification title and badge shown in the DVA-issued credential record and may represent the credential as current.

After the Credential Expires

The holder may continue to disclose the historical achievement accurately. Examples include:

  • Earned CDVP2.1 on [issue date].
  • Previously held CDVP2.1 certification.
  • CDVP2.1 certification issued [issue date], expired [expiration date].
  • A link to the DVA-issued credential record showing its recorded expired status.

After expiration, the holder must not state or materially imply that the credential remains currently active.

Changes to Future Recertification Offerings

Recertification is intended to address current materials and current professional expectations. DVA may revise the recertification materials, assessment, administrative requirements, or delivery rules for future offerings.

A candidate is responsible for completing the requirements communicated for the recertification offering in which the candidate enrolls.

A future change to the recertification program does not erase the historical fact that a prior credential was earned. It also does not change the title, issue date, expiration date, or recorded status of a previously issued credential unless DVA corrects a verified administrative or data error or expressly issues an updated credential following successful recertification.

Administrative Errors

If a credential holder believes that the name, credential title, issue date, expiration date, or recorded status contains a factual or administrative error, the holder should contact DVA and provide:

  • The holder’s full name;
  • The email address associated with the credential;
  • A link to the DVA-issued credential record;
  • A description of the specific information believed to be incorrect; and
  • Any supporting information requested by DVA.

DVA may correct a verified administrative or data error. A disagreement with the standard three-year validity period, the applicable recertification requirements, or an ATO’s price is not, by itself, an administrative or data error.

Does DVA set the price that every ATO must charge?

Is a suggested recertification discount guaranteed?

No. DVA may suggest that ATOs consider a heavily discounted price off the applicable suggested retail price. That suggestion is nonbinding. The ATO decides whether to offer that price or any other discount.

Can DVA require an ATO to honor another ATO’s price?

No general price-matching policy is created by this page. Each ATO independently establishes its own prices and commercial terms.

Does paying for the course guarantee recertification?

No. Payment and enrollment provide access according to the ATO’s terms. The candidate must still complete all applicable DVA recertification requirements.

Does enrolling extend my credential while I complete the course?

No. The existing expiration date remains in effect. The credential status changes only after successful completion is confirmed and DVA issues or updates the credential record.

Can professional experience replace the recertification requirements?

No. Professional experience is valuable, but it does not automatically extend the issue date, expiration date, or recorded status of the credential.

Who decides whether I have successfully recertified?

DVA establishes the recertification standard and controls issuance or update of the DVA credential. The ATO delivers the authorized offering and provides the applicable completion information to support that process.

What if I disagree with the ATO’s price or refund decision?

Pricing, payment, cancellation, transfer, and refund questions must be addressed directly with the ATO under the terms of the applicable offering. A pricing disagreement does not change the DVA credential status or certification requirements.
