Is there theory behind infomarts in DV 2.x?

By that I mean something that compares to the logic of Kimball's Four-Step Dimensional Design Process. The key to Kimball's approach is that each of his dimensional models represented a business process (e.g. taking orders, invoicing, receiving payments, handling service calls, registering students, performing a medical procedure, or processing claims). Are such pure business processes still at the heart of ideal DV 2.x infomarts? If not, is there a guiding idea as to what infomarts are supposed to represent (if anything)?

The book and course get into technical details about doing dimensional modelling, but perhaps I missed what infomarts really are supposed to be.
